Odede Foundation wishes to announce a new exciting partnerships with Rotary Club Of the Ponds in Australia,  Rotary Club of Mbita Mfangano Island, Rotary Club of Ruiru, Rotary Australia World Community Service(RAWCS) and Australia Aid.
Our  RAWCS funded project is called Rinya community children’s education and economic development . The project objective is to sponsor children who are mostly orphaned and/or affected by HIV, lack of proper nutrition, medication and severe economic hardship. We have set out to renovate Rinya Academy where these children attend to provide facilities required for their educational needs.

As part of our sustainability initiative we plan to implement sustainable projects to enable community activities to be fully operational and financially viable. Our initiatives include:

  • Horticulture commercial farming
  • Sustainable community family projects
  • Affordable healthcare
  • Microfinancing to support small businesses
  • Water and sanitation

Phase 1 of the project starts immediately with Basic education and literacy project for the Rinya Community children. This project supports both the children and the primary school that provides education to the children in the community. There are 16 teachers, 310 students, 174 parents. This project will benefit Rinya community by providing basic education to the orphaned, HIV affected and poorest children in the community. Basic education and literacy is one of the key factors that promote future economic development. Activities for phase 1 of this project include:
  1.  Sponsoring children who are the most economically vulnerable to enable them to attend school. The cost of sponsoring one child for 1 year is Ksh.17,350 (AUD 230). Priority will be given to those who  are most disadvantaged.
  2.  Providing educational materials – desks, books, blackboards etc.
  3. Implementing structural repairs to classrooms withpermanent materials. 

During the next year we plan to initiate community projects in other areas of focus including:

  • Economic and Community Development
  • Disease Prevention and Treatment
  • Water and Sanitation
  • Maternal and Child Health

Other sustainability projects will be set up to enable essential community projects to be fully operational and financially independent. Plans are underway to implement the following projects during the next year;

  • Commercial farming to subsidize community healthcare, education services.
  • Sustainability projects  to support family income generation e.g., poultry farming, horticulure farming etc..
  • Microfinancing to offer affordable small business loans. 
  • Solar power renewable energy for essential services
  • etc....
